Highlights
On your arrival at our 15th century farmhouse Rod or Cathy will show you to the Owl and Wildlife Garden where you can browse, relax and meet the owls. Rod will then meet you and introduce some of the birds in the Owl Barn, where you will fly three small, gentle owls to your gloved hand. Plenty of time for discussion and photography. Time to ask questions and chat. This experience is especially suited to young families and couples who wish to experience a first gentle introduction to flying birds, their natural history and their interdependence upon other species in the natural world.
Itinerary
You will be welcomed by Cathy or Rod at the Reception of the Farmhouse. Suitable for couples and family groups. (minimum age 6 yrs)
You will be shown to the Owl and Wildlife Garden where you can browse, relax and meet the owls. This is also a rich Wildlife Area full of nectar, fruits and seeds, ponds, wild plants, and nesting corners. Rod will then meet up with you and take you to the Owl Barn, where you will fly your first owl to your gloved hand. You will learn about its flying and hunting skills, habitat preferences, and environmental needs. During the morning you will fly four small owls to your gloved hand, and have plenty of opportunity to ask questions, and take plenty of photos. At the end of your session you can wander around the Centre and meet all our other birds and animals.
Each owl has its own personality, and there is plenty of time with each bird for discussion and chat. A beautiful space, amazing flying and fantastic photographic and video opportunities.
